The City of Fowler, a small city (pop. 6,605) located in the Fresno metropolitan area of Central California, is seeking an individual to plan, organize, supervise and coordinate Public Works Department activities; including streets, public facilities, parks, storm drainage, and water operations. Under the direction of the City Manager, the Public Works Director provides technical assistance to City staff, developers, and other agencies. Prepares and administers the annual department budget. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
Associates degree or equivalent supplemented by specialized courses in supervision, management, water treatment and distribution, and related subjects. Six years of progressively responsible experience in public works construction and maintenance activities, two years in a supervisor position. Possession of (or ability to obtain within 24 months): Grade II Water Distribution Certificate and Grade II Water Treatment Certificate issued by the California State Department of Health. Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills required. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
