Public Works Inspector I/II

The City of Elk Grove Public Works Department is seeking a Public Works Inspector I/II in the Operations & Maintenance Division. This position may require some evening and weekend work.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of or experience in the inspection of variety of public works construction activities, including asphalt removal and placement, slurry seal, microsurfacing, cape seal, ADA improvements, sidewalk/driveway installation, traffic control and project safety, and inspection of sidewalks as it relates to public safety. This position will work on a variety of projects, provide daily reports, and produce meeting minutes from pre- and post-construction meetings and other reports as necessary to document activities.
This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support positive working relationships with contractors and a diverse community, in addition to excellent organization skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The Department currently has one vacancy at the Public Works Inspector I or II level. Placement will be made dependent upon the qualifications of the candidate. The selected candidate will be notified of the level of position available prior to references being checked.
