The City of Wood Dale is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Public Works  Environmental Services. Under the general direction of the Public Works Director, this position assists with supervising the department's operations related to wastewater and utilities. This position may serve as interim director in the Director's absence.

Salary: $85,000 +/- DOQ

The Assistant Director also assists with the preparation of departmental rules and policies, procedures, goals, record keeping, strategic planning, budgeting, and accreditation activities. This position supervises crew leaders, associated field staff, and office staff, and is also responsible for assisting with hiring employees, providing instruction and training, assigning and reviewing work, and evaluating employee performance.

The successful candidate must possess strong management, organizational, financial, customer service, and communication skills. Thorough knowledge of municipal wastewater and utilities operations is strongly desired; however, exceptional candidates with a proven management track record in other fields may be considered.

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Public Administration, Management, or a related field with a minimum of three to five years of supervisory experience with increasing duties and responsibilities. A valid Illinois driver's license is required. A Class C Water License and/or Class 1 Wastewater License is preferred but not required. A CDL license is preferred but not required.

Starting salary is $85,000 +/- DOQ. Benefits include Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund; paid vacation and sick leave accrual; medical, dental, vision and life insurance.
