Annual salary range: $153,189 to $189,233

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a proven professional for this exciting opportunity to join the team and facilitate the design and construction of the City’s Water Pollution Control Plant – the largest capital improvement project in the history of Sunnyvale! This position will provide leadership to a dedicated and experienced team of wastewater professionals and have the opportunity to work on leading-edge technology related to food waste-to-energy, co-generation, and nutrient removal.

This position reports to the Environmental Services Director and plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the activities of the Water Pollution Control Plant Operations and Maintenance Division. This position provides strategic and implementation technical advice to master planning and capital improvement project construction for the Water Pollution Control Plant; coordinates Water Pollution Control Plant activities with other divisions and departments; and provides highly complex staff assistance to the Director of Environmental Services.

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental sciences, engineering, business administration or a related field; AND eight years of progressively responsible supervisory experience of an environmental regulated program with at least two years at the level of a manager is required. Additional second-line or higher supervisory experience in a highly related or large program may substitute for management level experience.
