The Director of Planning & Inspections is a management level position responsible for a wide variety of professional duties related to long-term planning, development plan review, permit issuance and building inspection functions, ensuring they are performed in conformance with all applicable Federal/State laws, the General Plan, City policies, accepted planning and safe construction practices, and building code compliance regulations.

Also, this position will ensure the City’s Development Code, Housing Element, and other community development and building related ordinances and policies are updated to reflect the General Plan, changes to Federal/State laws, and community values as directed by the City Council and Planning Commission.

In addition, the successful candidate will be the primary City representative responsible for all Planning Commission related activities. Overall, this Director will be accountable for working with the City’s residents, business owners, contractors, developers and community stakeholders to promote effective customer service within the Planning & Inspections department and ensure applications, permits and inspections are processed and completed in a professional, timely and responsible manner.
