Salary: 16.77 - $31.75/hour; Eligible for Benefits

The Broomfield Streets Division is looking for Full-time Streets Staff at the Worker, Technician, or Senior Technician level (depending on qualifications/experience). Please see the Minimum Qualifications section below detailing the training/experience required.

Senior Streets Technician (DOQ): Salary Range: $26.99 - $36.51/hr | Hiring Range: $26.99 - $31.75/hr

Streets Technician (DOQ): Salary Range: $21.96 - $29.71/hr | Hiring Range: $21.96 - $25.84/hr

Streets Worker (DOQ): Salary Range: $16.77 - $23.35hr | Hiring Range: $16.77 - $20.06/hr

Regularly scheduled hours are 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday and will include additional hours for plowing, special events and emergencies which could include evenings, weekends and holidays along with weekly on-call throughout the year.

General Duties:

  • Performs unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled street maintenance duties including patching and overlay; right-of way maintenance; alley repairs; debris and trash removal; weed eradication; inspections of contractor work; and plowing and sanding. Grades dirt roads and road shoulders. Patches chuckholes and street cuts with asphalt hot mix. Performs street overlay and crack-seal operations. Makes concrete repairs on curbs, gutters, and drainage structures.
  • Operates construction and maintenance equipment such as pick-up trucks, tractors, loaders, rollers, dump trucks, backhoe, street sweepers, paint striper, snow blowers, shovels, pickaxe, jackhammer, air compressor, post pounder, sledge hammer, asphalt rakes, and hand tools.
  • Serves as part of the Snow Plow team. Plows snow and applies de-icer to streets.

Minimum Qualifications
TRAINING -- High school graduation or GED equivalent.

EXPERIENCE --

Senior Streets Technician: Two years of experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, roads, alleys, road shoulders, and snow/ice removal including the operation of related light and heavy equipment. Must possess current CDOT Flaggers certification or equivalent..

Streets Technician: One year of experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, roads, alleys, road shoulders, and snow/ice removal. An employee whose assignment includes the operation of heavy equipment must have two years experience in the operation of a wide variety of light and heavy equipment used in construction and maintenance work. Current flagger certification preferred.

Streets Worker: No prior experience required

OR

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the Necessary Applicant Traits.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Senior Streets Technician:

Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment. Within six months of employment date, the successful candidate must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s license Class A with air brakes and tanker endorsement.. Once the new employee has obtained a Commercial Driver’s license, the license, the DOT physical card, and a safe driving record must be maintained for continued employment.

Streets Worker AND Technician:

Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment. Within six months of employment date, the successful candidate must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s license Class B with air brake and tanker endorsement. Once the new employee has obtained the Commercial Driver’s license, the license, the DOT physical card, and a safe driving record must be maintained for continued employment.

All Positions:

New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board, reference checks, background checks including police check and sex-offender registry check, driving record check through DMV, pre-employment physical, substance abuse screening test and background check required by DOT regulations.
