Under general direction, to plan, assign, supervise, and review the work of staff involved in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of the City's water distribution and sewage collection system.
Salary: $59485.00 - $75417.00
Exercises direct supervision over supervisory, professional, technical and clerical staff.
IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Plan, schedule, assign, and supervise the work of a moderately large work force engaged in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of City water distribution and sewage collection systems.
Assign, schedule, and review the connecting and disconnecting of water and sewer service.
Strategically evaluate the need for improvements to existing infrastructure and operating practices through a system of measurable metrics.
Provide general supervision of the installation of new water and sewer systems by water department crews.
Prepare annual budget, strategic planning, work orders, and inventory of parts and equipment for distribution and collection systems.
Review and analyze plans and work orders, estimate or check estimates of time and materials for repairs and new installations.
Inspect work in progress and upon completion; plan and supervise the water and sewer leak prevention program.
Confer with property owners, customers, and others regarding notices, complaints and effects of work projects.
Management of extensive preventative maintenance activities and maintain detailed records of all activities in order to provide the necessary information for report creation and for regulatory compliance.
Report to and regularly communicate with Assistant Director(s) and Director on issues and projects.

Methods, materials, practices, and equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer distribution, transmission or collection systems.

Principles of plumbing, pumping, and hydraulics as related to the work.

Experience and Training Guidelines:
Any combination equivalent to experience and training to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. Knowledge, skills, and abilities may be obtained through:
Five (5) years of experience in the operation, construction, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
A High School diploma or a GED is required. Holding a bachelor's degree in Engineering, the Natural Sciences, or Business Administration is preferred.
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain within 6 months, an A Water and/or Wastewater License is preferred.
A valid and current Texas Driver's license, the ability to obtain one within ten (10) days of employment, or a military waiver is required.
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, and climb.
Exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, confining work space, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards.
