The Town of Nantucket, Massachusetts has an immediate opening for the position of Director of Public Works. The Department operates, maintains, and improves the Town’s critical assets including but not limited to: public roads, sidewalks, multi-use paths, trees/vegetation, parks/fields, buildings/facilities/grounds, vehicle and equipment fleet, municipal parking lots, signs and pavement markings, public beaches, solid waste disposal facility operations/recycling program, household hazardous waste program, bridges, mosquito control program, snow/ice operations, cemeteries, and special events.
As a senior level department manager, the Director reports directly to the Town Manager and plans, organizes, supervises, and directs the activities of the functions within the department.
The successful candidate ideally has a Bachelor’s Degree with a specialization in business, public administration, engineering or a related field; more than ten (10) years of responsible experience with a minimum of three to five (3-5) years in a supervisory capacity preferably in a full-service, municipal public works department; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, and a valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
Salary range starting at $150K consummate with experience.
Residency required. The Town will put forth best efforts to assist with securing housing.
