The City of Valdez is accepting applications for a full-time Public Works Director.

Under the general direction of the City Manager or designee, plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and exercises general supervision and control over employees and functions engaged in a wide variety of public work tasks, including street maintenance, large scale municipal snow removal, municipal solid waste, storm water management, water and sewer utilities, and vehicle/facilities maintenance. Assures that all Department activities meet the public service goals of the City.

Qualified candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Resource Management, Business, Public Administration or closely related field; plus six (6) years of supervisory experience administering public works functions, landfills, or water/sewer operations; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and expertise.

This is a fully benefited, FLSA-Exempt position working a minimum of 40 hours per week. The City of Valdez offers a competitive pay, incentive, and benefit package to include:
