The Senior Civil Engineer is responsible to plan, organize, direct and supervise professional engineering work related to the investigation, planning, design, construction and maintenance and operations of a variety of public works facilities, systems and projects as well as residential, commercial, industrial and multi-family building and development projects; to manage and perform the most complex and difficult engineering tasks related to assigned area of responsibility.

Currently there are three vacancies; two vacancies within the Utilities Engineering Services Division and one position within the Transportation Engineering Division. 
 
The two positions within the Utilities Engineering Services Division include the Senior Civil Engineer for Water Resources Engineering and the Senior Civil Engineer for Construction Administration.  The Utilities Engineering Services Division is responsible for the engineering, resource planning and construction administration of infrastructure projects. These are management positions that are expected to exercise significant independent judgment related to the areas of responsibility.  Water Resources Engineering is responsible for the planning and coordinating of regional programs, Utility Master Plans, grant funding opportunities, and data management associated with water, wastewater and storm drain systems.  Construction Administration is responsible for coordinating the inspection and construction management of the City's public works and Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.  This division is innovative and passionate about managing water resources for quality, sustainability and reliable service.   These two positions report to the Engineering Division Manager within the Utilities Department.

Senior Civil Engineers are allocated to multiple departments within the organization. The list established with this recruitment will be utilized to fill the existing vacancy in the Utilities Department and the Community & Economic Development Department, and any additional Senior Civil Engineer vacancies that may occur.
