Street Maintenance is responsible for filling potholes, repaving streets, sweeping streets, and removing snow from public streets and alleys. The Division manages the City’s 2,150 centerline miles and 5,135 alleys to ensure mobility and safety for residents and visitors. The Division also manages the City’s asphalt plant, which produces asphalt for resurfacing and maintaining city streets and alleys.

The Street Maintenance team has an opening for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. This position will operate and/or perform maintenance on the following equipment (though this is not a full list of equipment): High-lift, forklift, maintenance truck, skid steer, and bobcat.
• Performs preventative, predictive, and corrective equipment maintenance
• Diagnoses, installs, and performs repairs on the asphalt plant equipment that consists of changing bearings, bushings, tips and shanks on the double barrel drum and other equipment as needed.
• Inspects equipment for safe and proper operation and perform preventative maintenance per manufacturer’s specifications.

Salary: $21.70 - $32.55

*This position requires a background check, physical, and drug test. Three (3) years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of asphalt plant equipment or related equipment, and a valid driver’s license at the time of application. Previous asphalt plant experience, 5 years’ experience repairing heavy equipment, and/or a CDL A or B license preferred.
