Salary: $63,821.47 - $82,968.08 Annually
Under general direction, the purpose of the position is to perform responsible administrative and professional work; planning, organization and management of community parks and grounds operations. Duties include managing and supervising diversified services, programs, facilities, grounds, parks and amenities. Supervision is exercised over a large group of subordinate full-time and part-time personnel. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation and is reviewed by inspection and observation, and by written and oral reporting.
Examples of Duties
- Prepares annual budget for the complete operation of multiple sections/divisions of the City's parks and recreation system.
- Supervises, manages, and evaluates the operation of maintenance, recreational services, and the work of subordinate personnel.
- Issues written or verbal directives to correct deficiencies.
- Prepares, reviews, and maintains various operations reports, work schedules, attendance logs, inventories, revenue figures, and related information.
- Reviews and approves purchase requisitions, purchase orders, payment authorizations, for materials & supplies of operations and maintenance; supervises and maintains revenue records; manages expenditures.
- Meets with organized neighborhood associations, groups, individuals or others interested parties to provide information, assesses community-wide maintenance needs; rectifies citizen complaints.
- Develops, coordinates and implements special project assignments.
- Initiates and procures Federal, State and County grants for a variety of programs and projects as required.
- Attends meetings and conducts presentations to Boards, the Commission, committees, associations and civic groups, etc.
- May act as Director of Parks and Recreation as required.
- Oversees and manages contracts and agreements as required.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned and directed.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in parks and recreation management or related field with at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in supervising and managing a large scale agency for parks and recreation; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Valid Florida Driver's License. Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP).

- Thorough knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of parks and recreation management.
- Thorough knowledge of budget preparation and administration of a parks and recreation system including the ability to track funds administered from the budget; revenue generation, cost recovery, and subsidy amounts/percentages.
- Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of parks and recreation and grounds maintenance programming development, and administration.

- Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines.

The physical demands involve depth perception, driving, far acuity, hearing, kneeling, lifting, near acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, seeing, standing, stooping, talking, and walking. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions: no effective protection from the weather. The worker is subject to extreme heat: temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. The worker is subject to noise: there is sufficient noise to cause the workers to shout in order to be heard above the surrounding noise level. The worker is subject to vibration: exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body. The worker is subject to hazards: includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places or exposure to chemicals. The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation. The worker is subject to oils: there is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids. The worker is required to wear a respirator. The employee works in a dynamic environment that requires them to be sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
Working Hours: 8:00AM-5:00PM, nights, weekends, holidays, and evbent hours ans needed aside from Monday-Friday.
