Engineering Technician

The Engineering Technicians complete technical civil engineering work within the Public Works Department. Traffic responsibilities include collecting data and providing initial recommendations regarding traffic related concerns; compiling traffic volume data; maintaining databases and inventory and maps of traffic-related inquiries, streetlighting program, and on-street parking issues. Inspection and Survey responsibilities include surveying, staking, and inspecting utility and street construction projects; reviewing and monitoring project plans and specifications; inspecting erosion and sediment control practices on construction sites; operating survey equipment; maintaining records of contract work; preparing record drawings; enforcing City ordinances. All positions perform other duties as assigned or necessary.

Minimum qualifications include an Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or closely related field and two (2) years of experience as an Associate Engineering Technician or equivalent position. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. A valid driver’s license is also required.

2019 starting wage range while 2020 contract is in progress is $24.37 to $29.77 per hour with advancement to $35.05.
