Superintendent of Public Works

Salary $160K+ depending upon education and qualifications with excellent benefits.

Candidate is responsible for $10 million operating budget, infrastructure systems, and all matters relative to the operation of such Department, including personnel matters, administration and maintenance of Village public works’ facilities and services, including central garage, engineering, sanitation and recycling, street division, water and sewer system, along with stringent payroll and expenditure controls of all divisions. Exp. With municipal purchasing/bid requirements and capital project management a must. Req. Bachelor’s degree (pref. Master’s degree) in related major (i.e. Engineering, Architecture), and minimum 5 years of management experience or 10 plus years’ experience in similar position in private or public entities, including budgeting ability and daily oversight of workforce capabilities. Requires high level of independent judgement and problem solving. Candidate should have strong capability to manage labor costs, improve scheduling of workforce and increase productivity of workforce. Substantial prior experience in a public works department strongly preferred. Candidate will be part of the senior management team of the village and have regular interaction with the board of trustees.
