THE POSITION:

Under general supervision of the District Engineer, the incumbent performs professional engineering work in the design, investigation, and construction of wastewater and related projects; acts as project manager and construction manager for assigned projects; and, performs other related work as required.  

REQUIREMENTS:                                                  

The applicant should be able to design and prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for District projects including sewer mains, lift stations, and related projects; draft using AutoCad; research project design requirements and prepare estimates of time and material costs; inspect all phases of construction on District projects; analyze problems and identify solutions; use and maintain spreadsheets and databases; interpret and enforce construction plans and specifications; respond to public inquiries and requests concerning the District’s sewer system; and, other duties as assigned. 

This position requires the ability to work well independently, as well as in a team environment.  Excellent communication and computer skills are highly desirable. 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and experience may be qualifying.

Three years of increasingly responsible experience, two of which under the supervision of a registered Professional Engineer or General Engineering Contractor, involving engineering, construction of industrial facilities, construction planning, or construction inspection for a private contractor, municipal agency or engineering consultant involved in significant municipal engineering; and,

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a closely related field. 

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION:

Possession of a valid California driver’s license and a motor vehicle record which meets the District’s driving standards.
