The City of Lafayette (pop. 24,000) is recruiting for the position of an Assistant Engineer. Lafayette prides itself on its vibrant downtown, beautiful tree-studded hillsides and great schools. Position will require a hands-on approach to capital improvement project management with the engineer performing much of their own construction inspection. Position will support capital improvement and maintenance projects, development review , and encroachment permits. Interest in and experience with “Clean Water-NPDES” programs and requirements is a plus. This is a challenging job in a great city! In addition to familiarity with civil engineering principles, procedures, methods, materials and techniques used in public works projects, qualified candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively with the public and possess inspection experience in the field. The preferred candidate will have interest in and experience with “Clean Water—NPDES” programs. An equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or related engineering field is required The Assistant level position requires two years of professional engineering experience and an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate is highly desirable.
The salary range for the position is $79,284 — $104,292.
