The City of San Bernardino is seeking an experienced Lead or Senior Maintenance Worker to  support the Operations and Maintenance Division, leading work crews in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, alleys, curbs, sidewalks, gutters, storm drains, street signs and related infrastructure. 

The ideal candidate will be service oriented and will have senior level public works maintenance and construction experience as well as extensive experience operating a variety of light-, medium- and heavy-duty motorized maintenance and construction equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and four years of journey-level experience in public works related construction or maintenance work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements
A valid Class B California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.

Employees in this classification may be required to participate in call back or standby duty and are subject to be on-call, which may include a rotating schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Retirement for Current Members - For employees hired after 1/1/2013 who are current members of California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) or a reciprocal agency as of 12/31/12 and have not been separated from service from such agency for six months or more, the retirement benefit shall be 2% @ 55; highest single year of compensation.

Retirement for New Members - For employees hired 1/1/2013 or later and who are not a member of the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) or a reciprocal agency as of 12/31/12, or those who have been separated from a public agency which contracts with CalPERS or a reciprocal agency for six months or more, the retirement benefit shall be 2% @ 62; 3 year final compensation. New members will be obligated to pay 50% of the normal cost of their retirement benefits as required by State law.
