The City Engineer is responsible for the oversight of all design and construction of public infrastructure built in and for the City, as well as the administration and oversight of the stormwater and ADA compliance program. The department is also heavily involved in the planning, financial forecasting, and intergovernmental coordination of these improvements.
Reporting to the Mayor as a member of the City’s management team, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of responsive and timely communication skills; exercising strategic and political acumen, tact, and diplomacy; strong decision making; leadership and problem-solving skills; and, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, management, supervisors, and the general public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with relevant experience and background. Professional Engineer certification registered in the State of Indiana preferred. At least five years of progressively responsible experience that includes significant management and supervisory experience. Public sector experience preferred.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The City of West Lafayette offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $95,000 commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
