Anticipated Hiring Range: $44.19 - $60.10 ($91,915 - $125,000)
DEFINITION: The purpose of this job/class within the organization is to oversee and direct the operations of the public works and utility departments.This job/class formulates long-range goals for the organization, develop policy and position papers and negotiate with the chief administrative officer and/or elected officials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all inclusive):
The selected candidate will train with the current Interim Director during their introductory period. Oversees and manages Public Works and Utility Departments. Manages and ensures budgetary compliance with operations & CIP budgets for the departments. Oversees and manages the CIP projects, bidding, contracts, and construction. Handles human resource and personnel matters, interface with staff on issues. Conducts site reviews and manages ROW use permits; coordinates activities with other department directors and staff. Coordinates and confers with County staff, West Volusia Water Suppliers, and water management district staff and governing board members.
Additional Duties: Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in a Civil Engineering preferred or closely related field. Requires ten years' experience in civil engineering, public works, or closely related experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Professional Engineer Licensure valid in the State of Florida is highly preferred.
