PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR. The City of Belle Plaine is currently seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the Director of Parks and Recreation. This position is responsible for the administration and operations of the Parks and Recreation Department to include: planning, promoting, and organizing programs, activities and sporting events for all ages; and maintaining, enhancing and developing parks, playing fields and recreational facilities including an outdoor aquatic center. The successful candidate should possess the ability to understand the varied functions of each sub- department. These duties are applied to Franklin Park (a 28-acre recreation and sports facility located at 10th Avenue and 11th Street that includes ball fields, disc golf, basketball courts, a tennis court and an aquatic center), Drahn Park (ballfields, soccer field, playground), Belle Plaine Community Center (meeting rooms and kitchen), and five smaller parks. A bachelor’s degree in recreation or related field and a minimum of 2 years` experience in a responsible management position preferred. Salary depending on qualifications.
