Under general supervision of the Public Works Coordinator. This is the lead maintenance worker position in the Public Works Maintenance Worker Class series. Incumbent performs lead/supervisory duties and coordinates responsibilities for a small group of Public Works Maintenance Workers. In addition, incumbent is assigned to coordinate/perform a variety of administrative, clerical, technical and labor duties including operation of wide variety of heavy construction and maintenance equipment. Incumbent in this position is subject to twenty-four hour "callout" for right of way and road related emergencies.

Salary: $54,080 - $67,167 annually

Essential Job Duties: The following duties are essential for this position, but are not limited to the following; ? Prioritize daily duties, projects and assignments for public works team. ? Understand and follow oral/written direction, policy and procedures. ? Ability to work early mornings, nights, weekends and on-call, if needed. ? Performs labor work involved in construction and maintenance of projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, concrete replace/removal and street sign installation. ? Monitor quality of vendor services relating to janitorial services, street sweeping, bus stop maintenance, park maintenance, graffiti removal, and refuse and recycling. ? Coordinates/performs public street tree maintenance, weed mitigation, curb and gutter clearance, curb painting, sign maintenance, bulky Item pick up throughout city limits from streets, alleys and city-owned properties. ? Coordinates and processes service requests related to the Public Works Department and requests for street closures and special events. ? May perform general clerical duties and perform other duties as assigned. ? Ability to communicate in Spanish fluently is desired. ? Ability to communicate in a professional manner during difficult situations.

Minimum Knowledge, Skill and Ability: Knowledge of: ? General operations, services and processes within amunicipal public works department ? Principles of Safety and Practices and communication (OSHA Regulations) ? Basic Math and Record Keeping, Computer Skills ? Irrigation repair/installation. Skill and Ability to: ? Utilize equipment which includes standard power and hand tools, two-way radio, drills, saws, roto-routers, grinders, landscaping tools, furniture movers, hand tools, electrical meters, energy management system, department vehicles, personal computer, smart phone, copier, calculator, fax machine and other standard office equipment.

? Comprehend and correctly use a variety of informational, technical, regulatory documents, including assessor’s maps, tract maps, sewer plans, survey note books, public works improvement plans, billing and invoices, policy and procedures, policy memos, resolutions, and municipal ordinances and codes. ? Communicate effectively in a courteous and competent manner verbally and in writing with city administrators, officials, co-workers, contractors, citizens, other agency personnel, and engineers/contractors. ? Operate a variety of automated office machines including copier, fax machine, telephone, personal computer, cell phone and peripheral equipment and typewriter. ? Use a variety of drafting and clerical tools and supplies.
