Description

The City of Waycross is seeking candidates for the position of Public Works Director. The Public Works Director provides technical engineering services for construction inspections and water and sewer improvement projects, prepares plans, coordinates the requirements for new designs, surveys, and maintenance schedules. Makes final recommendations on City road construction projects and community development activities, including environmental reviews, hydrology studies, federal & state compliance and approval of final engineering plans for residential and commercial plans. Provides engineering and direction for the water and sewer utilities operations, and manages local traffic improvement program and transportation projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (civil preferred) or related field along with three to six years’ experience in the Engineering/Public Works field. Certification as a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training preferred. Must have experience in NPDES, storm water permitting and knowledge of DOT policies, procedures, and specifications.
