Salary: $151,860.00 - $214,080.00 Annually

The City of Irving is seeking a forward-thinking leader with strong collaborative and decision-making skills to join its leadership team as Assistant City Manager-Public Works and Infrastructure (ACM). Politically astute, without being political, the incoming ACM will have exceptional interpersonal skills; a team-oriented style of management, coupled with a commitment to the public; and the flexibility to perform at a high level in a changing environment.

At present, this ACM position has executive oversight of Capital Improvement Programs, Solid Waste Services, Traffic and Transportation, and Water Utilities. However, the portfolio of the ACM is subject to change at the discretion of the City Manager. The ideal candidate must be a proven municipal leader with the ability to successfully manage virtually any city department, program, project or activity assigned by the City Manager and will require exceptional leadership and collaborative, as well as effective communication and facilitation skills.

Candidates should be individuals who have experience working with elected and appointed officials; and have outstanding time and project management skills and a broad understanding of a variety of municipal issues.

The Assistant City Manager-Public Works and Infrastructure position is an excellent opportunity for a strong leader with managerial courage, political acumen and an ethical forward-thinking vision. The top candidate will have significant experience in local government, city revitalization and growth, and will meet the following criteria.

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible supervisory and management experience in municipal government administration.
  • Five years of experience as an Assistant City Manager or as a City Manager is preferred.

The salary for this position is $151,860+ depending on qualifications and experience.
