Engineer - Texas

Brief Description of the Job:

Responsible for the design, constructions, costs and future maintenance requirements of Public Works engineering.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Work requires broad knowledge in a general, professional or technical field.  Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.  Minimum of five years years experience is required with a minimum of two (2) years in the capacity of a Municipal Engineer.  Supervisory experience preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Coordinates and conducts a variety of professional engineering functions on behalf of the City.
• Reviews engineering plans for correctness and compliance with federal, state and local rules and policies; investigates, develops and makes recommendations regarding various issues.
• Collaborates with other City departments in the identification and design of public works, private development, and/or other municipal projects; performs plan reviews; prepares various types of engineering/project records and documentation; supervises assigned personnel; and performs other duties relative to area of assignment.
• Directs Construction Inspectors by guiding, explaining, and teaching engineering practices and procedures and notifies the Construction Inspectors of important information.
• Updates the City standards and regulations by keeping abreast of changes in the laws and new technologies.
• Acts as the City Floodplain Administrator by meeting with the public, administrators and other departments and making interpretations on the required level of flood protection necessary for structures located within flood hazard areas.
• Regular physical attendance is required.  This position does not qualify for teleworking.

Salary: $70,000.00-$105,000.00 annually
