The City of Laguna Beach Public Works Department is seeking hard-working, dedicated, and enthusiastic candidates for the position of Part-Time Laborer IV. Under supervision, the Laborer IV performs routine, sometimes heavy, manual labor and assists skilled and semi-skilled workers in one of the following divisions of the Public Works Department: Streets; Parks & Buildings; Equipment Maintenance.
There is currently one vacancy in the Parks and Buildings Division assisting skilled staff in the maintenance of City facilities and parks (Beach Crew). The resulting eligibility list may be used to fill future Part Time Laborer IV vacancies throughout the city.
Examples of Duties:
- Assists in custodial duties and cleaning of beaches and park facilities, storm drains, and other public facilities removing trash, debris and seaweed.
- Empties trash and recycling containers.
- Assists gardeners using shovels, rakes and other hand tools.
- May be assigned to a litter control crew that maintains the business district sidewalks, parking lots and planters by raking, sweeping, washing and cleaning.
Applications will be accepted until the closing deadline of Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 11:59 pm. Applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the division will be invited to selection testing. The selection process may include a panel interview and other selection techniques designed to predict successful job performance.
