Salary: $168,105 - $208,270

One of the most desirable communities in Southern California, the City of Huntington Beach (pop. 202,265) features nearly 8.5 of miles of spacious beaches which typically help to attract over 4 million visitors per year. Supported by more than 200 FTE, the Director of Public Works oversees a department that is currently organized across six divisions: Administration, Engineering, General Services, Maintenance Operations, Transportation and Utilities. The Director also oversees an annual operating budget of approximately $112.6 million a FY2019-20 CIP of $46.6 million.

The ideal candidate will be an outstanding people manager known for fostering inclusive cultures characterized by high standards, accountability, and trust. A high energy and inspirational leader, he/she will be results focused while demonstrating a relentless commitment to continuous improvement. Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree and five years of public sector management, preferably in public works, is required. An impressive performance record of capital project management and delivery is also expected.
