The City of DeKalb, Illinois is seeking a Street Superintendent to join our team! The Street Superintendent assists in the planning and direction of the routine and emergency operation and maintenance and repair of the City’s infrastructure systems including streets, signs, storm sewer, traffic control, fleet, grounds and urban forest. Under the general direction of the Director of Streets & Facilities, the Street Superintendent develops short and mid-range goals for the Streets Division. The Street Superintendent participates in creation and implementation of budget recommendations, supervises and trains divisional staff, oversight of applicable City contracts and assurance for compliance with regulatory agency rules, regulations, and safety requirements and responds to emergency conditions. The Street Superintendent assumes responsibility for maximizing customer service, promoting a positive image and the policies of the division. Work requires considerable professional judgment and initiative within the framework of established regulations and policies.

The position of Street Superintendent is a mid-level management position who reports to the Director of Streets & Facilities. The Street Superintendent is a full-time exempt position requiring attendance at meetings outside of regular business hours including weekends. This position routinely handles highly sensitive and/or confidential information. The Street Superintendent will lead and supervise divisional staff and provide oversight to on-site contractors.

The starting salary for the position is $85,000 +/- commensurate with knowledge, skills and experience.
