The City of Reno has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced individual who possess strong leadership, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to fill the position of Recreation Manager. The Recreation Manager is a hands-on, service-oriented recreation professional who can exhibit successful resolution in addressing complex staff issues, experience in budget development/management and has a passion for programs and services that promote recreational programs, activities and events to our community.
The Recreation Manager will be responsible for managing, supervising, and coordinating
the activities and operations of the assigned recreation programs and services within the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department. The individual selected will be responsible for aquatics programs, youth recreation programs, teen recreation programs, senior services recreation programs, league sports, golf programs, summer and holiday programs, before and after school programs and various special events; coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies.
Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
Six years of increasingly responsible recreation experience, including two years of administrative and supervisory experience.
License or Certificate:
Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.
Possession of a Certified Parks and Recreational Professional certificate is desirable.
