Description

Manage the administration, design and construction of capital projects and provide technical support to the Engineering Division by:

Other duties include participation in City and Departmental Strategic Plan initiatives; preparation of City Council agenda items and presentations; utilizing policies and procedures to assure smooth interface with other City departments on design and construction related issues; assisting in updating the Technical Standards and Specifications Manual; resolving citizen concerns; consulting with staff on private development issues and Right-of-Way permit program; managing general engineering programs; pursuing continuous professional development; and participating on various internal and external committees.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.

Experience: Three years (3) of construction management and/or project management experience.

Other Requirements: Valid Driver's License.

Note:  Driving and criminal history checks required.  Selected candidate will also be required to complete a post-offer drug screen.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification as an Engineering Intern (EI) or Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of North Carolina preferred.

Municipal experience in construction management and implementation.

Experience in the management of federal funded and NCDOT projects preferred.
