They will be an approachable manager who leads by example and demonstrates a strong customer orientation. This natural team leader will have a hands-on style working closely with a close-knit team in a collaborative environment. This flexible and adaptable leader will be self-aware, exhibiting high emotional intelligence, and be comfortable interacting with a variety of stakeholders. Excellent communication skills will be essential to effectively represent the Division and City with elected and appointed officials, outside agencies and the community.

The professional selected will have the ability to relate easily to a wide range of people with diverse backgrounds and create a welcoming and motivating team environment. They will value and respect team members and be present with an authentic and open management style. The ideal candidate will be an effective relationship builder and team player accustomed to working across departments and divisions to serve the community. Whether presenting before the City Council or meeting staff in the field, this individual will be seen as credible and trustworthy.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of public works with the ability to manage day-to-day operations while at the same time effectively plan for future infrastructure needs. They will be experienced working with colleagues, outside agencies and community partners to manage projects aimed at mitigating the impacts of an aging infrastructure. Their knowledge and experience with infrastructure maintenance and managing capital projects will be an invaluable resource in this position.

Successful candidates will have five years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience involving design, plan checking, project management and construction management. Municipal professional engineering experience and supervisory experience is highly desirable. A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field is required. Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the State Department of Registration for Professional Engineers is required. Successful applicants must also possess a valid California Class C driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.

Benefits
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The salary range goes up to $189,708 and appointment will be made based on the qualifications of the selected candidate. In addition, the City of Pacifica offers the following benefits:

Retirement - 2.5% @ 55 CalPERS (classic); 2% @ 62 formula for New Members

Pacifica does not participate in Social Security.

Health Insurance – Cafeteria style benefits. Employer contribution varies (maximum $2,167.92 monthly).

Dental – City has a self-funded dental plan (Delta) that typically covers 100% paid premiums of dental expenses and $2,000 in orthodontic bene?ts.

Vacation Leave – Annual accrual rate between 20 and 27 days per year based upon years of service with a California municipality. Up to three weeks of vacation can be cashed out annually.

Holidays – 13 paid holidays per year.

Administrative Leave – 88 hours annually.

Sick Leave – 12 days accrued annually.

Deferred Compensation – choice of three plans.

Long-term Disability Insurance and Life Insurance – City provides paid long-term disability and life insurance coverage through Voya Financial, and an Employee Assistance Program through MHN.

Auto Allowance – up to $550 per month.
