THE DIVISION
The City of Visalia’s Fleet Maintenance Division, within the Public Works Department, is dedicated to keeping all City-owned vehicles and equipment operating safely, efficiently, and at peak performance. The Division manages and enforces the City’s vehicle policies, operates a full-service repair facility, and maintains a fully stocked parts department to support efficient operations. Through a comprehensive approach, the Division provides preventative maintenance and repair services for all City fleet vehicles and equipment, supporting safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations across all departments. In addition, the Fleet Maintenance Division oversees the City’s fueling sites and fuel maintenance contracts, ensuring reliable access to fuel resources.
Qualifications / Requirements:
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, team player with the ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral form and follow both written and oral directions. The ideal candidate will also be well organized with a basic knowledge of vehicle\equipment mechanics (Hand Tools) and vehicle\equipment parts operation. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of shipping and receiving, part ordering and inventory control. The ideal candidate will follow safe work practices, including workplace safety policies and procedures and adhere to all City of Visalia policies and procedures.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skill and ability is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skill and abilities would be:
- Possession of high school diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience performing automotive servicing or related work.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License by the time of appointment.
