The Senior Maintenance Worker (Parks Division) position will lead, oversee, and participate in the work of maintenance crews responsible for the City's parks, streetscapes, parkways or other facilities, including the cleaning, repair, maintenance and/or construction of irrigation systems, landscaping, lighting systems, sports facilities, playgrounds, and buildings; provide support to supervisory staff administering services contracts, conduct inspections and meet with contractors to discuss maintenance or construction issues; maintain and use a variety of construction machinery and tools; and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. This position is not overtime exempt. The City has the discretion to make occasional adjustments of the work week, work day or hours for this position to serve the interest of the City's operation and mission.
This is the advanced journey level class in the Maintenance Worker series. Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series including leading and overseeing lower level staff. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.
